Episode 003 of the HRL History of the Future podcast features Dan Sievenpiper discussing his work, specifically focusing on the concept of "The Holographic Surface." Sievenpiper earned his PhD from UCLA in 1999, where he invented the high-impedance electromagnetic surface. In 2010, Sievenpiper transitioned to the faculty at UC San Diego, continuing his research focused on artificial media and integrating active electronics with electromagnetic structures and antennas.
