📝 Description
Footage captured outdoors demonstrates the pneumostome, or breathing hole, of a slug. This physical feature is utilized by the gastropod for respiration. In certain slug species, such as the black slug (Arion ater), the pneumostome is situated on the right side of the mantle area.
The mantle, in shelled gastropods, is responsible for secreting the shell. In slugs like the one pictured, the mantle contains resilient internal structures composed of calcareous granules. Observation of this anatomical detail provides insight into the respiratory mechanism of terrestrial slugs.
