Objem granitne kocke

Footage documents the protest interactive performance titled "Objem granitne kocke" (Hug the Granite Cube) by the group ZIZ, presented in Maribor on March 28, 2015. The performance originated from collaborative research focusing on the criminalization of protests that occurred in Slovenia between 2012 and 2013. Specifically, it addresses the experiences of protestors from the third Maribor uprising who faced judicial prosecution for exercising their constitutional rights to expression and assembly.

The interactive performance sought to confront the scope of direct police and state violence directed at the bodies of protestors, systemic violence, and the broader criminalization of public dissent as reactions to perceived abuses, dispossession, and societal disintegration. The ZIZ collective formed in February 2013 following a workshop based on Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed techniques, which they utilize to examine power dynamics and inequality within society.
