Lecture titled "Design Your Own Seashell," delivered by Alain Goriely on February 13, 2026, at Bernard’s Inn Hall, London. Goriely is a mathematician known for his work in dynamical systems, mathematical biology, and applied mechanics. His research includes contributions to the mathematical theory of biological growth, detailed in his monograph, *The Mathematics on Mechanics of Biological Growth* (2017).
Goriely earned his PhD from the University of Brussels in 1994 and later joined the University of Arizona. Since 2010, he has been the inaugural Statutory Professor of Mathematical Modelling and a fellow of St. Catherine’s College at the University of Oxford, where he also directs the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. The lecture focuses on mathematical modeling concepts related to structural forms found in nature.
