📝 Description
Oral history interview conducted in 2014 with Karen Hollweg regarding her experiences during the 2013 Boulder County Flood. Hollweg recounts her perspective as a townhouse owner in the Shanahan Ridge neighborhood of Southwest Boulder, where residents unexpectedly faced significant water intrusion, including pooling around homes and basement flooding, despite the location being on a ridge. She details the immediate crisis, neighborly cooperation in water diversion efforts, and the subsequent recovery process following the severe weather event.
The interview also covers Hollweg's subsequent involvement in researching and documenting the flood patterns. A focus of her post-flood activity was advocating for flood mitigation strategies aimed at improving future outcomes in the affected areas. This recording (OH 1997) is part of a larger series documented by the Maria Rogers Oral History Program, with the interview conducted by Janice Sherman and filmed by Anne Marie Pois.
