A drone strike targeted the United Arab Emirates' Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, located in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra Region. The incident involved a fire erupting in an electrical generator situated outside the plant's secure inner perimeter. The Barakah plant represents the Arabian Peninsula’s first operational nuclear energy facility. Constructed with South Korean technology at an estimated cost of $20 billion, the power station began operations in 2020. As of the report, no entity has claimed responsibility for the drone strike. The UAE has previously experienced aerial threats, including drone attacks on other critical infrastructure.
