The Barakah plant represents the Arabian Peninsula’s first operational nuclear energy facility. Constructed with South Korean technology at an estimated cost of $20 billion, the power station began operations in 2020. As of the report, no entity has claimed responsibility for the drone strike. The UAE has previously experienced aerial threats, including drone attacks on other critical infrastructure.
